Standards and PPE on site.

On sites managed by CSBM, the requirements of Swiss occupational safety regulations and the project-specific safety rules apply. The following personal protective equipment must be worn on all sites:

• Hard hat
• Safety boots with toe caps
• High-visibility vest / high-visibility clothing
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection in noisy areas

Depending on the task, the following may also be required:

• Protective gloves
• Respiratory protection masks (FFP)
• Fall protection / full-body harness
• Safety harness
• Cut-resistant clothing
• Other task-specific protective equipment

Everyone on site must wear the prescribed PPE, carry out a safety self-check before starting work and comply with the applicable regulations.

Safety is not optional – it is mandatory.

As a rule, we recommend working scaffolding, as in most cases it provides the safest and most efficient working platform. Scaffolding offers greater stability and a larger working area, and it allows safe work over longer periods.

Platform ladders and ladders may be used where they are suitable for the work and the statutory safety requirements are met – in particular for short tasks, inspections or minor installation work.

The choice of access equipment is always based on a risk assessment:

• Working height
• Duration of work
• Scope of work
• Risk of falling
• Accessibility of the work area

Where scaffolding is possible, scaffolding takes precedence over ladders. Safety comes before speed.

When working in unprotected areas or wherever there is a risk of falling, suitable fall protection must be used. This applies in particular to:

• Service risers
• Roof work
• Work at open edges
• Shafts and openings
• Scaffolding without full edge protection
• Any work area with a risk of falling

On sites managed by CSBM, a full-body harness with suitable anchorage is mandatory in these situations. Anchor points, safety concepts and instructions are provided for each project. Workers check that the safety devices are working before starting work.

Full-body harnesses are available on request for anyone without their own fall protection.

Fall protection saves lives – no task is more important than your safety.

For CSBM, occupational safety is not an add-on but an integral part of every construction project. We monitor compliance through regular site inspections, daily checks and consistent documentation of findings and measures.

• Monitoring compliance with SUVA and statutory regulations

PPE is mandatory from the moment you enter the site. Anyone without the prescribed protective equipment will not be allowed into the site area.
